BMW & MINI – Showroom & Service
year: 2016
location: Sofia, Bulgaria
area: 8 900m2
The project complies strictly with the corporate aesthetic of the company and is based on a simple geometric composition. In keeping with this, the variety of the materials is not overwhelming. The design improves the quality of the workplace and the customers’ comfort.
The site composition
The project implements decorative trees like Carpinus betulus „Fastigiata“ and Catalpa bignonioides ‘Nana’. Species such as these, with elongated (pyramidal) crowns, have the advantage that during autumn their leaves shed on the grass below instead of on nearby parked cars.
Green walls have been designed on the southern and eastern facades of the building. The different plants used have been selected in accordance with the climate, the solar orientation and the production of the building.
Green walls 1, 2, 3 and 4 will be constructed of modular PVC panels and will have a droplet-irrigation system. Green walls 5 and 6, on the other hand, will be made of a modular system for climbing plants.
